Why you shouldn´t believe everything you think

What if you are not as logical and rational as you think? How about if instead your mind and your thinking are biased and programmed. Would this not be a perfect reason why you should not believe everything you think. Truly understanding this concept about your brain and mind can set you free and change the way you experience life.
What you believe sets the tone for your life; why you shouldn´t believe everything you think
We tend to believe what we want to believe and for some reason, we usually think that our own beliefs and thoughts are the correct ones. This is many times the reason why it is so hard to understand how and why someone else is thinking as they are. It can also become the reason for conflicts.
In many situations believing strongly in your own thoughts will also hold you back from personal growth.
How we unintentionally pick the reality we believe in
Interestingly, depending on what kind of glasses we choose to wear and how we choose to use the content of our ruck-sack we set the tone for our life. We will either consciously or unconsciously build ourselves the playground we live and play in.
The ruck-sack idiom I´m using here makes it easier for us to grasp the big picture. I use it in the meaning of all the history you are carrying around with you. Including upbringing, cultural attitudes, and schemes. As well as situations that have happened in your life and the solutions you have come up with. Your ruck-sack also contains your values, including how you see yourself and others.
The glasses on the other hand can explain how your past life but also your current choices of beliefs and thoughts colour the way you perceive situations and life. The glasses could be referred to as your mindset.
How all these clashes with other people is an interesting story but the first and foremost thing to look at is how we use the ruck-sack and glasses on ourselves.

Our brain is biased in many ways
Even if we would like to think we are capable of being objective we are not. Our brain cannot pick up on every circumstance and bit of information. It would be purely impossible for the brain to do so. Instead, our brain is biased in different ways.
Confirmation bias is one way, in which our brain saves energy and has us think in a certain way. Confirmation bias means we tend to listen more often to information we are familiar with. Information that verifies the beliefs we already have.
The hindsight bias is about us looking back at let´s say a situation and telling ourselves “I knew it all along”. We are simply overestimating our ability to predict an outcome that would have been impossible to predict.
These are just two occurring biases we have, among many others. The point I´m trying to make here is why you shouldn´t believe everything you think.
Become aware of your programming and choose your thoughts
This programming of yours, the one you carry with you in your rucksack, and the way your brain is biased can steer your life. But you also have the choice to become aware of how your brain works.
Not believing everything you think is of utmost importance. Rather figure out what your beliefs are, and why they are what they are. Become aware of your beliefs and thoughts in various situations in life. This can be done by questioning the beliefs and thoughts you have. “Is this something I am willing to believe and think”? If your answer is no, then that is a place for personal growth.
Aw, this was a really nice post. In idea I would like to put in writing like this moreover – taking time and precise effort to make an excellent article… however what can I say… I procrastinate alot and not at all seem to get one thing done.
