What if most things you can touch and see are created twice, first in the mind, and then in reality? Is there something of value we could learn from that statement? For me, it is giving the fundamentals to how everything is created. If you would like to know how to create anything you want, start by focusing on what´s going on in your mind.

Just look around yourself. The clothes you wear, the car you maybe drive or the phone you use, the podcast you listen to, and the electricity in your house. All of it has at one stage or the other been created first in somebody’s mind. What you put into your mind is going to give you a specific outcome in life.

Trying to force an outcome, without understanding your thoughts about it will be a struggle. This can lead to a situation in which you will stress yourself and feel you aren´t meeting your own expectations. Another outcome might be that you give up, without being able to create whatever you aspired to.

This is how thoughts and actions are strongly connected

Your thoughts create emotions. Depending on what you think you will have various emotions arising. Therefore, both your thoughts and feelings are strongly linked to the actions you either take or decide not to take.

It is easier to understand how this works if we study it further. Let´s choose a scenario that might be one you recognize in your own life. Let´s say you would want to be promoted.

Down below you can read two separate ways of thinking regarding your promotion.

  1. I´m not sure I will be able to perform because I don´t have the right education and certification for that specific job. As a matter of fact, I don´t even know if I have enough experience either. I feel somewhat scared or frightened to mess things up and loose the job even before I have started. What if everything goes wrong and I will feel like a fool.
  2. I´m kind of aware of the fact that I lack the exact and wanted education, but I know I have experienced a lot in my current job, that will help me in the new position. I might even be able to introduce something new, or a better way of working. I know I´m capable of learning and evolving. I´m sure I can handle this, it feels exciting and inspiring.  

Both statements could be true for you but depending on which way you think it will awaken different feelings inside you. Taking it even further. Depending on how you decide to think you will take different actions, which in this case will give you two opposite results in life.

The outcome of your thoughts and actions

If you look at statement one, read the words and try to feel the emotion it awakens within you. What do you feel and where do you feel it in your body? If you want, you can say it out loud. Now, imagine yourself walking over to your boss and asking for a promotion. What do you think would be the outcome of that discussion? Would you be promoted?

Try to do the same with example number two. Can you feel the difference and are you able to imagine the different results?

Can you now see the reason why the thoughts you occupy your brain with will have an impact on the results you have in life?

Your thoughts are crucial to how you feel and how you behave. If you for instance think a lot of negative thoughts, it will show in your life. Try to always remember that your thoughts are choices. You can choose how you want to think about something.

Choosing how you want to think on purpose

Your brain processes around 60.000 thoughts each day, and most of them are on autopilot. Becoming aware of what you think is how you can change your life. It is also the key to how you can create anything you want.

If you believe you aren´t capable of doing something your brain will seek evidence to support that thought. Thinking in this way will have you take certain actions, which will then lead to an outcome based on your belief.

But if you on the other hand think you can learn and develop, become better and grow, your brain can then seek evidence for that as well!

Depending on your thoughts you will create the state you are in. And it is up to you to decide whether you want to move forward and focus on growth or if you want to focus on scarcity, worry and lack. Once you have decided, you can start practicing.

Creating anything you want

As “everything is created twice, the first time in the mind and then in reality” (by Robin Sharma) it means there’s a mental or first creation, and physical or second creation, to all things.

Getting back to the earlier promotion example. To be promoted you need to first understand what you think about the promotion. Become aware of your thoughts around the topic and decide which thoughts might serve you and which ones you need to work on so that you will get your promotion.  

Become aware, decide which thoughts you want to think, and practice your new thoughts if needed.

If you want to create anything in life, start by focusing on your mind and on your thoughts. Acting according to your thoughts and beliefs is so much easier than living and acting against them. Change your thoughts and your action will follow.
